Gennie and Yeng

January 3rd, 2016

A beautiful, yet chilly November day, I met Gennie, Yeng, and cute little Josephine at the Seattle Center. With the sun shining, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab some outside shots on our walk over to the Pacific Science Center.

At almost a year old, Josephine was calm in her approach to modeling; there wasn't any crying and smiles were a rarity. Yet the intensity of her gaze reminded me of the old adage, "the eyes are the window to the soul." She would hold my gaze, as if peering in to see the thoughts floating around inside my head, without judgment.

Capturing the moments in between the shots is one of my favorite things. While meandering through the Tropical Butterfly House, one particular butterfly developed an affinity for Yeng, landing on his cheek to rest for several minutes. We couldn't stop laughing while little Josephine hadn't a clue what was going on.
